Hypnotherapy. Rewiring your powerful Subconscious through Words

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a complimentary therapy, that uses a changed state of awareness through deep relaxation, and suggestion. This helps to change negative habits or beliefs, establish new healthy thinking patterns, and remove blockages holding you back from your best life.

Busting some misconceptions about hypnotherapy.

You can read a lot about hypnotherapy online but here is some information to put your mind at ease.
  • It is NOT possible to be hypnotised against your will.
  • You naturally go into hypnotic trance throughout your day when you don’t even realise it, that’s how simple, easy and controllable it is. Have you ever driven somewhere and not remembered passing certain traffic lights or part of the route? That’s trance. Also when you watch TV or a fascinating film, you are lost in it and for a time totally absorbed. Wondered why they are called programmes?
  • During a hypnotherapy session you are in control and can stop, open your eyes at any time.
  • You are not put to sleep. Hypnosis or trance is a deep form of relaxation that allows you to access your subconscious by by-passing your conscious brain so that you can get to the root of the issue that you are struggling with, and resolve it.
  • The hypnotist does not make you do anything against your will. If you are not in full agreement with the suggestions, your mind will not receive them.
  • Hypnotherapy is NOT a performance like stage shows. It’s a complimentary form of therapy which helps you to overcome fears, change unhelpful habits and change negative beliefs but it’s a process that can only work with your full participation and commitment. There is no magic woo-woo.

What can hypnotherapy help with?

  • Weight Loss (and establishing healthy eating and weight management habits)
  • Smoking Cessation (and establishing healthy new habits)
  • Fears and Phobias
  • Anxiety about an upcoming exam, driving test, college or work related presentation, public speaking, change of career, having a baby, etc)
  • Pain Control
  • Investigating root causes of negative or toxic behaviours, and rewiring the brain towards beneficial and healthy habits, and behaviours.

What happens during hypnotherapy?

My process is gentle, simple, relaxing and informal.

At our first session, we discuss what you want to change and I take some information that will help me write personalised hypnosis scripts for you. Personalising hypnotherapy scripts optimises the success of the treatment because it takes into account the challenges and blocks that have created your current struggle. At our first session we will do a simple deep muscle relaxation hypnosis to give you a taste of what its like and start preparing the way for our future sessions.

,Future sessions are dependant on progress from the one before, each session completely customised to you, your needs, your pace, your preferences. We review the previous session and what took place between sessions, and move froward accordingly.

I use a variety of tools in my sessions from my training and experience in life coaching, bibliotherapy (I may suggest some books to read to enhance what we are doing), therapeutic writing, creative counselling, and of course hypnotherapy.

My work is deeply personal to you. I create safe, confidential and trusted space and take everything into consideration. Sensitivities to air fresheners, the environment, noise, neurodivergence, disabilities, and anything else that will help me create a space where you feel safe, comfortable and at ease.

The Investment.

Sessions are 90 minutes long and cost £65. You may notice other hypnotherapists offer shorter sessions from 50-60 minutes long but I work in my unique unrushed way, combining life coaching, counselling skills, and hypnotherapy to maximise the benefit of each session for you.

“Following a few near misses while driving I started to have panic attacks while driving or as a passenger in cars.

I suffered for over 20 years.

I filled in Michelle’s detailed, thorough questionnaire and had a face to face hypnotherapy session with Michelle, and she sent me a recording to use.

I felt listened to and the recording was tailor-made to help me with my driving issues. I am now much calmer both as a passenger and when I am driving. She has given me a tool which has allowed me to regain my confidence and freedom to go where I want.  Thank you so much Michelle”.
